Letterin vs Zety: which one fits you?

Zety is one of the most widely used CV builders in the world, and it earns that in places. But its pricing and the way it tailors a resume to a posting are very different from Letterin's. We put the two side by side on the points that actually decide it.

In short

What Zety does well

Zety has a wide choice of templates, a step-by-step editor that guides a beginner, and plenty of ready-made sentences per profession. It has a cover letter builder too. For someone who does not know what to write on a blank page, those suggestions really do save time.

Pricing: the trial and the automatic renewal

In October 2026 Zety's pricing page listed a free plan that downloads TXT only. A PDF or Word file needs the 14-day trial at $1.95; if you do not cancel, the plan renews at $25.95 every 4 weeks. Paying yearly brings it down to $5.95 a month, which also renews on its own every year.

Letterin has no trial. A free account edits without limit and downloads PDF and DOCX files with no watermark. Only AI usage is paid: about three tailoring runs a month on the free plan, Pro at $7.99 a month or $17.99 for three months, or a $4.99 pack of 5 credits that never expire if you do not want a subscription.

Tailoring: stock sentences or your own experience

Zety's suggestions are generic: you pick from bullets written for a profession. That is fast, but those bullets describe everyone in that job, not the work you did.

Letterin reads the posting, shows how well your CV matches it and which terms are missing, then proposes a rewrite of your own summary, bullets and skills for that posting. You accept or reject each suggestion section by section; no figure, skill or title that is not on your CV is added. Each posting gets its own copy, so your master CV never changes.

Language: one resume, several languages

Zety is mostly an English product with separate sites for some countries. Letterin's interface and CV output come in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish, and the two are chosen separately. The AI writes every suggestion in the CV's language and that is checked: an English CV tailored to a German posting stays in English. A German copy of the same CV is one step away.

Which one to pick

If you are making one CV to download once and stock sentences matter to you, Zety is a good choice; if you take the trial, note the cancellation date.

If you send a CV written for each posting, want PDF and Word files without a subscription, or apply in more than one language, Letterin fits better. Zety has more templates; Letterin has five, and every one exports as real text an ATS can read.

Questions

Is Zety free?

You can build your resume for free, but in October 2026 the free plan downloaded plain text (TXT) only. A PDF or Word file needs the trial or a subscription.

How do I get out of a Zety subscription?

Cancel in your account settings before the trial ends, or the plan renews on its own. Download your CV as PDF or DOCX before you cancel. You can carry on in Letterin by uploading that PDF: its content is read into editable fields.

Can I move my Zety resume to Letterin?

Yes. Upload the PDF or Word file you downloaded from Zety and your experience, education and skills are split into fields, which you review before saving. A LinkedIn archive and a JSON Resume file can be imported too.

Upload the CV you downloaded from Zety: see your ATS score without an account, then download it as PDF and Word, without limit, with a free one.
