Letterin vs Resume.io: which one fits you?
Resume.io is a widely used CV builder with a simple editor and clean templates. Its pricing, though, limits a free account to plain-text downloads. We compared it with Letterin on price, tailoring and language.
- Resume.io's free plan downloads TXT; the 7-day PDF trial renews at $29.95 every 4 weeks (October 2026).
- On Letterin the number of CVs and PDF/DOCX downloads are free and unlimited; only AI usage is paid.
- Letterin opens a copy for each posting and keeps the cover letter and application tracking in the same place.
What Resume.io does well
Resume.io's editor is simple and fast, its templates are clean, and you can make a CV and a cover letter in the same look. It runs local sites for several countries. For someone who wants a tidy resume with little effort, it is a comfortable tool.
Pricing: the trial and the 4-week renewal
In October 2026 Resume.io's pricing page limited the free plan to one resume and one cover letter, downloadable as TXT only. A PDF needs the 7-day trial at $2.95; if you do not cancel, the plan renews at $29.95 every 4 weeks. A 4-week cycle bills 13 times a year, so that is a little over $30 a month. The quarterly plan is $49.95.
Letterin has no trial and no subscription that starts on its own. A free account opens as many CVs as you like and downloads PDF and DOCX files with no watermark. Only AI usage is paid: about three tailoring runs a month on the free plan, Pro at $7.99 a month or $17.99 for three months.
Tailoring: one resume, or one per posting
On Resume.io you write the resume yourself and get AI help with sentences. A version for each posting means copying the resume and changing it by hand.
Letterin is built for that loop. Your master CV is kept once; paste a posting or give its link and it gets its own copy, with the match score and the missing terms, and the AI proposes a rewrite of your summary, bullets and skills for it. You approve each suggestion section by section, and nothing that is not on your CV is added. It writes the cover letter for the same posting from the facts on your CV, and the application goes on a tracking board.
Language: one interface, another CV language
Letterin works in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish, and the interface language and the CV language are chosen separately, so you can run the app in English and write a German CV. Every AI suggestion is written in the CV's language, and that is checked, not hoped for.
Which one to pick
If you want one tidy resume, quickly, and a short subscription is fine, Resume.io does the job; note when the trial ends.
If you apply a lot and want a CV written for each posting, apply in more than one language, or do not want to pay a subscription just to download, Letterin fits better.
Questions
Is Resume.io free?
The free plan lets you make one resume and one cover letter, but in October 2026 it downloaded TXT only. A PDF needs the trial or a subscription.
Why is Resume.io's 4-week price more than a monthly one?
A year has 13 four-week periods. Paying $29.95 every 4 weeks comes to about $389 a year, close to $32 a month.
Can I move my Resume.io resume to Letterin?
Yes. Upload your PDF or Word file and your experience, education and skills are split into fields, which you review before saving. If you could only download TXT, you can upload that text too.
